Oxum e Narciso - A marginalidade do auto-afeto de pessoas pretas e/ou LGBTQ+
Keywords:
Self-esteem, Narcissism, Oxum, Reflection, Black BeautyAbstract
The text reflects on the connection between Black beauty and the mythological figure of Narcissus, contrasting it with Oxum, the Yoruban goddess of fresh waters and affection. The author shares personal experiences of estrangement from his reflection, questioning why Black self-esteem is often associated with narcissism rather than the positive force of Oxum. The narrative explores how European colonialism distorted symbols of beauty and self-esteem, stigmatizing self-love among Black individuals and conditioning them to reject their own image.
